March Update--The beginning of the creative cycle

I've noticed that my ability and attention span on writing projects waxes and wanes. It's a curious thing, but it seems that I'm most active from the start of spring to the end of summer. Looking back on this blog, my most productive months were in April, May, and June. This seems to happen in all my creative projects, not just this one. Winter does not seem good for my creative soul.

That said, my current job keeps me quite busy during the day, so I tend to feel worn out by the time I get off. It won't stop me from being creative, but it might put me in the mood to veg out in front of the TV or mess around on Facebook instead of writing. It kinda sucks that way. It's so easy to get distracted.

  2. I am still alive, yes. Sorry about the long delay...I've been wrapped up in work and other porjects for the last few months. I'm also trying to think my way out of the situation I put Gaven in last time...So I'd like to ask you for help. I'm trying to identify the things that are working in this story and the things that aren't quite working out. I'm trying to identify the promises I've made to the reader, the things you'd be disappointed about if I didn't touch on in future chapters. Got any suggestions?

  4. i like how Gaven has been starting to get more and more used to the Shadows, learning how they work, and the rules that govern them. When he was interrupted by Despair, and set his room on fire, he was about to figure something out, it seemed like it was something to do with the politics of the shadows, the relationships between them. maybe he could use that. Also, it reads like the voice in the wall was hijacked by Despair. not particularly relevant, but at this point i'm just writing things. so to answer your question, yes, I do have a lot of suggestions, but i'm not sure what will work in the context of the story

  5. That's ok. From what I've heard, readers always know when the story is going wrong, but don't always know *why*. And people generally know what they like, and it seems the last bit intrigued you. I'm doing a bit of backstory fill-in, as that helps me figure things out.
